Back on the Road

So why Bainbridge?

This is what most people here ask us. The answer is simple: It’s a magical place. It really is.

We got here two days ago, late at night, after a long flight from New York to SEATAC, the airport for Seattle and Tacoma. Again jetlagged, as the time difference is another three hours.

And what a contrast to New York. As we pull up the dirt road to our red farmhouse, it feels like we’re in another world after the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple. When we get out of the car, we hear… nothing. Some frogs. That’s it.

The pace of the island is steady but laid back. It doesn’t take long to tune in, especially as we are staying at a marvelous place full of nature and beauty and love to the detail. Which appears to be the case everywhere here on the island it seems. Juliane found it on AirBnB, or, as she likes to put it, it found us. Our hosts are lovely as is everyone else here we have spoken to so far. Kind, tranquil, listening, welcoming.

And there is time to rest, to wander the gardens, to cook, to play, to be creative and to let the mind flow. (It certainly helps that Germany and my office are nine hours ahead…)

West Coast is the best coast. Have fun in the PNW, a very special part of the country and where I still call home. Magical, indeed. J
