Today is a bit of a sad day, as we are leaving the wonderful Kowalski farm on Bainbridge today after nearly ten days restful island life. We will cherish this part of our stay as wonderful experience in unknown lands, and we hope to be back sometime.
During our stay here, we have made the trip to Seattle several times, but apart from that, enjoyed the quiet pace and natural beauty of Bainbridge. We have done bike tours and explored beaches, we have read and written, drawn and played. We have been invited to a neighbor’s birthday garden party and have had the opportunity to meet with very kind and welcoming islanders. Our last evening here was particularly lovely, as we had dinner together with our host Melissa and her children, Julia and Duncan. They prepared the most wonderful salmon and halibut and shared stories and pictures from Alaska which will be on our list next time. We part in friendship and with hearts filled with great joy and gratitude.
And so, we hit the road again and will pick up our 30 feet (!) long RV in Tacoma south of here shortly. Inspired by the recommendations of our hosts and their friends, we will continue our journey to the very North West of Washington State, to Neah Bay in the Makah reservation. Nearly four months on the road lay ahead of us, and the excitement is grand. We’ll be in touch.

We miss you, too! Very much! And we hope to see you again soon! And maybe either of you want to come to Germany and live with us for a while!
