We are in the middle of “Week Three in a Camper Van” and enjoying some very special times with friends in Colorado when a message reached me yesterday which takes me all the way to Brooklyn on the afternoon of the 7th of June.
We had just left our friends at Tough Mudder and were strolling along the Brooklyn waterfront in Dumbo, enjoying some late afternoon sun. We paused at a beach, sat down and looked over to Manhattan in between Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge, while the children played and threw stones in the water.
When we left and headed to a nearby merry-go-round, a young German man addressed me and introduced himself. He said that he had been watching us and taken the liberty of taking a few pictures of us which he would be happy to send me. We chatted for a moment, I gave him my guitar pick travel business card, and we said good-bye.
Yesterday, I received the following e-mail from him (in German, which I take the liberty to translate as follows):
“Dear Mr. Wagner, I have not forgotten about you. I hope you enjoy one or the other of the attached photos. Your blog is great, very beautiful pictures. You have a wonderful family. I wish you all the happiness in the world.”
